Thank you for registering to attend this year's CNF Annual Meeting and offering to present a poster.  Please note that only ONE presenter per poster gets into the annual meeting for free.  If you are co-presenting the same poster, one of you will have to pay the $30 registration fee!  (Sorry...)  Otherwise we'd have eight people presenting one poster, all for free, and we'd get eaten out of h0use and home.  So one person for free per poster.  Thank you.

ALL POSTERS MUST BE RELATED TO RESEARCH PERFORMED AT THE CORNELL NANOSCALE FACILITY or represent a CORNELL CENTER or DEPARTMENT.

WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO DECLINE ANY OFFER TO PRESENT A POSTER!

:•: POSTER ABSTRACTS ARE DUE IMMEDIATELY!! :•:

 1. To increase your chances of winning a poster award (certificate and $100), we include poster abstracts / summaries in the proceedings.

 2. These are due to Ms. Melanie-Claire Mallison IMMEDIATELY.

 3. Email your abstract to Melanie-Claire as a PDF document named "YourLastNamePosterAbstract.pdf" -- by the 7th.

 4. (After the 7th, those who have not submitted an abstract will not be included in the proceedings, which effectively cuts your chances of winning cash!)

The Abstract Must Include The Following Header Info:

Poster TITLE
Poster WIDTH
CNF Project #
Author(s) (Poster Presenter first please)
Principal Investigator
Affiliation(s) (Department, Institution/Corporation)
Email addresses for author(s) and PI
Did you submit a technical report on this research?
(For the 2010-2011 CNF Research Accomplishments)
Use "NA" if anything above does not pertain to you!

  Abstract (200 words, including references)

NOTES:

  • Please send at least the complete header info if you don't want to send an abstract!  Help the corporate sponsors track you down later ... with a job and/or a cash award for Best Poster!

  • It is fine for you to present a poster previously presented at another meeting or site visit as long as it has to do with recent and original work performed at the CNF.  But whether creating a new poster or presenting a 'used' poster, please be sure to include CNF's logo and read the instructions and recommendations below.

  • Posters will be numbered and you'll need to put your poster up by your number.  Numbers are assigned as poster abstracts arrive, and Melanie-Claire will let you know your number when she confirms receiving your materials.

Thanks again!

Instructions for Preparing Poster Presentations at the CNF Annual Meeting:

The 2011 CNF Annual Meeting Poster Session & Corporate Soiree will be held on Thursday, September 15th, from 5pm to 7pm, in the Duffield Hall Atria.  This is a professional, technical meeting, so please dress appropriately and respectfully for the event.  Poster set-up is from 4:30pm to 5pm -- Please arrive ON TIME and remember to find your assigned number!!  (Not early!!!  Just on time.....)

Poster presenters should be available to answer questions during the entire session, so stay with your poster as much as possible between 5pm and 7pm.  We know you may want to take a look at other research, but please don’t completely abandon your poster to do so.

The layout of your poster is left up to your discretion, although we have some recommendations:

1.
Please display the CNF logo somewhere on your poster.  Find the logo at: http://www.cnf.cornell.edu/cnf5_publication.html

2.  Use a portrait layout style (taller than wide), since we can fit in more posters that way.

3.  Put your title at the top of the poster in large (1" high) letters.  Putting the title at the top means people walking by will be able to see what your research is about even if you are already talking to someone else.  (In other words, your body won't block people's view of your title...)

4.  Also, put your full name, email address and phone number in large type at the top of your poster.  This will ensure that interested company recruiters can get back to you.  AND for the poster cash awards, judges can figure out who you are!

5.  Prepare the poster so that an informed viewer can understand what your research is about without talking to you.  This is important because you can only talk to a few people at a time and many more may be evaluating you from afar to figure out whether or not to come closer.

(BTW, I know all of the above sounds really obvious, but frankly, you'd be surprised at some of the posters we've seen over the years..... ;  )

Thank you!  Send your abstract to me RIGHT NOW !!
