Knight Director, Cornell NanoScale Science & Technology Facility (CNF) 2010-present. Alfred P. Sloan Fellow, 1996-99; David and Lucile Packard Foundation Fellow, 1997-2002; William L. McMillan Award, 1997; Research Corporation Research Innovation Award, 1997; ONR Young Investigators Award, 1997-2000. Research Areas New nanofabrication techniques; electronic properties on molecular length scales; spin transport and high-speed dynamics in magnetic devices; correlated-electron states in magnets and superconductors; quantum properties of defects and impurities Current Research Our group's research focuses on the electronic and magnetic properties of nm-scale samples. The work in the group consists of making nanometer-size devices using equipment at the Cornell NanoScale Science & Technology Facility (CNF), and then performing measurements in Clark Hall (usually) at low temperatures. Students and postdocs in the group are pursuing a wide variety of projects.

2013 CNF Technical Reports Due June 12th
May 09, 2013
CNF USERS: It is time once again to plan for the Cornell NanoScale Facility Research Accomplishments. As you may recall, one of the requirements of using the CNF for your research is the submission of an annual technical report. It is extremely important that we receive complete and interesting reports from all users and all projects.

Annual Steam Shut Down & CNF Lab Closure
Apr 15, 2013
Cornell will be doing its annual steam shutdown starting at 5am on May 28th. The lab will be closed at this time and will open again May 31st at 9am. Please plan ahead as there will be no access to the lab during this time.
Limiting Use of CNF Lab During CNF TCN, June 4-7
Mar 18, 2013
Dear CNF Users:

The CNF clean room demonstrations are an integral part of the CNF short course, Technology & Characterization at the Nanoscale. Therefore the 40 CNF TCN participants will be in the clean room the afternoons of June 4-7, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, from 1:30-5pm each day.

You may want to consider avoiding the clean room on those afternoons.

On the up-side, come to Baum Atrium at 12:45pm each of those days and see if there is any lunch left for non-participants!
